This is a news compilation setting the record straight on the day’s top stories about the oil and gas industry.
This report was written by one of the lead authors of a letter sent to the Prime Minister signed by 265 academics calling for no support to the oil and gas industry during the COVID downturn.
- Laurie Adkin, the main author of this new report suggesting government overspending on oil and gas research is already a heavily biased anti-oil and gas activist.
- The report argues that governments have been overspending on research and technology in the oil and gas industry, but neglects to mention the $359 billion paid to governments between 2000 to 2018.
- The report itself even acknowledges that funding went to emissions reduction programs like the Climate Change Emissions Management Fund.
Here are some stories that get it right, or mostly right.
The other week, Tides Canada announced that it was re-branding as MakeWay due to what they call a ‘smear campaign’, labeling it as a foreign-funded organization. They claimed that they used to receive funding from the American organization but no longer do. A recent edit was made to the story by the editor states that “Although MakeWay and the Tides Foundation have severed legal and governance ties, MakeWay continues to receive grants from the Tides Foundation through donor-advised funds held at the Tides Foundation.” Clearly, they aren’t ready to shirk their foreign funding just yet.
