This is a news compilation setting the record straight on the day’s top stories about the oil and gas industry.
Let’s thank anti-Canadian oil and gas organizations for being repeat customers of the products they claim to hate.
- While the group SumOfUs pulled a stunt the other week flying a banner over Ottawa that said “No Oil Bailout”, they used a plane that runs on hydrocarbons.https://www.shell.com/business-customers/aviation/aviation-fuel/avgas.html
- Stunts like this are extremely common with anti-oil and gas groups. It happened in October 2019 when Extinction Rebellion held a protest, but used an old truck to transport their XR canoe.
The oil demand crisis hit negative prices and anti-oil and gas organizations are ecstatic. How can we take groups seriously when they want to see economic destruction?
- Calling for the destruction of any industry, is incredibly reckless and shortsighted. In the case of oil and gas, this would mean over 500,000 jobs are at risk and billions of dollars in losses for Canadians.
- Calling for the end of the oil industry doesn’t just affect Canada’s economy; it affects the very people these activists claim to support. Food bank usage is up 80% and suicide hotline calls are up over 85%. It will only get worse.
Here are some stories that get it right, or mostly right.
